Sibongile has over 20 years of financial services experience specializing in compliance and risk management. She was the recipient of the 2017 GRBC Spectrum Award for sustained exemplary performance and commitment.
Currently, Sibongile is the Chief Compliance Officer of Brex, the AI-powered spend platform. In this role, she leads the company’s global compliance program and oversees the implementation of frameworks designed to mitigate regulatory risk. Prior to joining Brex, Sibongile was Vice President of Compliance at Affirm, a leading payments company.
Over the course of career, which includes American Express, Fannie Mae, and the Federal Reserve, Sibongile has built her reputation on finding creative ways to address complicated challenges both from a business and regulatory standpoint while ensuring that the company remains compliant. On a more personal note, her upbringing, experience, and work ethic drive her to act as an advocate for women and people of color in the workplace.
Sibongile Ngako received her BA from Harvard University, graduated cum laude, and holds a Master of Music from Binghamton University. Sibongile has a long-sustaining passion for music and the arts. She’s a classically trained opera singer, and enjoys performing with her women’s chorus, Vox Femina, and dancing in her spare time. She currently resides in Beverly Hills, California with her husband and three children ages 12, 8, and 5.
